hi guys

How does one right a killer legal essay? Any hot tips? Apart from including a billion legislations and cases?

I mean for say, modern history, your response in exams should be text dense and describing adjectives should be used to enhance your writing etc. So what about legal essays?

Legal essays should have individual interpretations of the law (if the question lets you), or else, should give insightful analysis of the legal system/current legal issues using a wide array of cases/legislation and media reports.

Remember, legal essays aren't like English ones, they don't have to have perfect expression/style. Good content is the most important part.

Don't ramble on the same point. Eg in family, you could talk about injustice between family members, and ramble on about the injustices within differing family arrangements etc etc Does rambling move your essay forward? No, it doesn't so, alternatively, you could talk about 1 family arrangement, such as divorced families and the parenting rights of the father vs mother, and the conflict/tension created in adversarial systems, and lastly, the child's rights in these matters.

Also; to get a grasp on how to write about the effectiveness of the law, think like this:

  1. What is/are the issues(s)?
  2. What does the law do here?
  3. Does the law make a difference? If not, why not?

+1

Additionally, make sure your introductions and conclusions are attractive. Always, always, alwayssss make sure you have a strong judgment at the end of your legal essays - esp. if the question includes assess the ... or evaluate the ... etc.

Try to be critical in your judgment; markers prefer something different. Because when you are being critical, it shows you're thinking, not just merely going with the flow (which is like what more than half the students do).
