The best:

Amy Lee
that Kristina chick from Lacuna Coil
the old (but good) chick from Nightwish
Kitty
Ella Hooper from Killing Heidi.
And whenever Paz from A Perfect Circle decides to front a good remix (i.e. The Constantly Consuming Mix of The Hollow).

Shirley Manson, Garbage.

Gwen Stefani, or at least when she was still in No Doubt.

Of the thousand or so songs I have on my computer, I think only one of them has a female lead singer, and it's a Garbage song.

Karen O and that moron from the Grates are basically both ripping off Sioxsie Sioux, a far better female vocalist. Also PJ Harvey, Kim Deal (with Pixies, Amps or Breeders), Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, Bjork, Portishead, Anita Lane (I mainly know her stuff with Bad Seeds members), Lydia Lunch (with artists such as the Swans, Foetus, etc and solo), Sandy Denny who was with Fairport Convention but is best known for singing on led Zep IV, Funkadelic (when they use female singers), Jarboe with the aforementioned Swans, Patti Smith, Nico with the VU (her solo stuff is sometimes painful)...the list goes on really.

Even Yoko Ono is sometimes good.

Fiery Furnaces (pretty much my favourite band over the past few years)
Le Tigre
The Organ

I don't see much similarity between the two. I do like siouxsie & the banshees in small doses though, didn't think of them.
