Go sit next to another person that's sitting alone under the stars. Than you'll both be sitting together yet alone under the stars. Eventually, you'll just be together.

Nah i dont have like 2 friends who got under 87. And the majority got a UAI higher than mine...

Theyre all nerds.

But their nerdishness is simply taking them to other places... NOT WITH ME!

Fuking hell, UAI is bullshit when it comes to friends.

Most of my ex-schoolmate went to USyd. So what? It was even better because i actually used my last glass of courage to talk to people whereas in the previous 6 years i care less about socialising.

One thing I got to say about meeting new friends with your old pal is that you can act like a pimp and than socialise with them. Shit me, just go can talk to them. You are not like me who is looking for a person to spend my life with (i.e. more than friend), but that's a diff story.

If I see you - I KNOW WHAT YOU LOOK LIKE, I'll say hi.
I have some nice friends who're in the same position as you - they're female, too.

Anyone else going to Butterfingers? Man, that shit is going to pump like a Supersoaker 9000. I'll be going, y'all can hit me up.

I dont know if this has been already pointed out, but the good news is with education you tend to be in the same classes as other education students so you meet people more easily. In arts its a bit harder as you may never have the same people in your classes. It is quite scary at first but remember most people are in the same boat and if you come across a jerk (we all do at some stage) then dont worry there WILL be friendly people! Best of luck! :)

Guys/Girls,

I've been reading through this thread and I could post back a lot of replies on what has been said here but I'll just try to keep it short in quick

I may have said this before... this sorta extends off RooRaa
If you are worried about being lonely in o-week I recommend you to join a campus tour group. Yellow shirts will be running these, and will be running games and socialising sessions. If you have a faculty lecture you are attending, at the end of the faculty lecture there should be campus tour groups that start from there. This way, you will also be allocated to groups of people who study same topics - which means in most cases, you can then can relate to them since they are studying what you are :)

In terms of the 'geek' perception - i don't think that attending a LAN party is lame at all - I think if you are enjoying an activity or game with other people and joined a society for that, there isn't much difference between that, or a non computer game based society. As long as you have fun, and can relate to people at the same time, thats all you need! And if you choose to join different clubs to diversify, so be it.

More information, go to the website, and if you got any more questions post them on the oweek forum. Replies are very quick, and there are more than 130 Yellow Shirts to help you out with your questions.

See my signature for more details about o-week, and hopefully I'll see you there :)

Hey Millymoo. I am going to be lonely too. Have the same problem about being a bit shy. I think the meeting up idea is a good one. We could even go all out and have like a BOSer Trivia Team. Or maybe I'm just lame lol. What Arts subjects are you going to do? Anyone for French and German? :)
