Contrary to many predictions of an ATAR of 70, I got high 80s, so I'm stoked!
I was wondering though, which uni would be better for journalism? Macquarie or Wollongong, or the uni better in general? I've heard journalism courses are Wollongong are great though, I don't know much about Macquarie however. Any suggestions please?

Macquarie is a great university for Journalism, in my opinion at least. It has a lot of great connections for that kind of stuff too.

I've heard Wollongong is tops for Journalism, very practical and a lot of opportunities for internships, behind UTS of course, while UNSW and USyd are way too theory-based.
I think the media courses are Mac are fairly new so I'm not too sure

I've got a few friends doing the Journalism course at UOW, and I haven't heard anything bad about it. Pretty much just all good reviews from them.

This is what I heard.

From what I gathered during the HSC as far as journalism goes, CSU > UTS > UOW > UMACQ/UNSW/USYD/UWS. Although I've heard that the UWS course is nice and practical as well.

I only got 80.85 for my ATAR though and not willing to travel to Wollongong anymore as its possible for me to stay in Sydney. I plan to either sneak into Macquaries journalism which is 84 or do BArts at UNSW, do the media subjects and hopefully transfer to UTS or just stay at UNSW for journalism.

Thank you :)

A little off-topic but is it worth an extra 1.5 years to take up international studies with journalism?

It depends what you want to do with it. If your aiming to become a foreign correspondent, don't bother, as the media industry is slowly fading out that role.
