our teacher has never mentioned anything about a major work and no one in our class knows about it. the only thing we have now is a multimedia assignment but it is not an assessment, it is classwork only and we haven't even been told when that is due. pls tell me more about this ipt major work!

Its not really a major work...it doesn't go to BOS for marking, mine was a multimedia assi which was 35% of my mark thats why the majority of us call it a "major work" don't worry ur skool probably assesses slightly different!!!

I havent got mine back and wont until after the trials

IPT Major project information

yeah at our school it was worth 30%

Project work in the HSC course is intended to give students an opportunity to plan, design
and implement an information system that has a purpose. The chosen information system
should be either:
• a database information system
• a communication system
• a transaction processing system
• a decision support system
• an automated manufacturing system, or
• a multimedia system.
The construction of the information system will follow the stages detailed in the Preliminary
topic Planning, Design and Implementation. However, the content has been expended
beyond the traditional method to include prototyping and participant developed solutions.
One large project or a number of smaller projects may be undertaken in the course. If
smaller projects are undertaken, they need to occur over a significant amount of time and
involve sustained work. Project(s) should allow students to see the information system in its
full context. Students should identify the purpose for the information system, the
participants, data/information and information technology that work with the information
processes. An indicative 20% course time has been set aside for project(s) in the HSC
course. Project(s) may be undertaken by groups of students or individuals and can be
commenced at anytime during the HSC course.

Hey people,
Got my results back for my trials major project and a topic test on TPS
I got 76 % for my trial, 93% for my major project, and 92% for the topic test came second in the class for all except for the trial were i came third

Yay! I got 90.5%!! First by 5 marks!

Pretty good considering how basic it was.

i handed in my project just on monday.

video store database
diary/journal: 11 pages
implementation plan: 3 pages
manual/user documentation: 28 pages
report: 15 pages
diagrams: 4 pages.
=46 pages which cost me 2 allnighters (saturday and sunday night)

i didn't post up my 'major work-ish' mark up of 20% weighting:

153/160 = 96%...
though my other exam marks don't look that impressive..

oo i didnt post up what i got....
89%.. beat the competition by 10% ooooooooooo it feels good...
wasnt hoping to get a mark like that, thought i was get low 60's for sure

our class had like 4 people got 90 or above. i think i got equal first with 92% and it helped me push my rank from the middle to the top. good luck to you's all in the hsc

I made a educational video on careers, just used my friend as the host. and interviewed some other friends, a few teachers and stuff like that. Went for 25 mins and i used iMovie on the mac to edit it, and used a standard miniDV handycam... I've got final cut pro now though!!!
I got 88% for it.. and contributed to 30% of my total assessment mark.
