I am really struggling to choose a topic for my major work essay. The essay is supposed to look at changing opinions of an event or person over time.

I was thinking of doing something about Israel, perhaps the Six Day War? I can't think of a historical question though about it though, can anyone think of a good question to pose relating to the Six Day War?

I also considered the Iranian Revolution of 1979.

Any other suggested topics are welcome! I nee some ideas for controversial/debated people/events.

Six Day War probably would 'significantly overlap' with the examinable syllabus for the Arab-Israeli Conflict and so isn't allowed. There are ways around that but be careful.

One of my students did the 1979 Iranian Revolution and found it quite interesting. He had contacts, though who were there at the time, so had some 'primary sources' available - not saying you have to have that but it certainly made it easier for him.

What are the ways around the Six Day War Overlap?

What are some other ideas? I was thinking perhaps studying Saddam Hussein and Ba'athist Iraq.
