I really hope so :/// They would keep changing the police, so that's a plus.
And for them to sleep in there would be terrible.

Everything needs to return to normal :((
It's ok gurl. They'll sort it out somehow, hopefully with no causalities.

How far do u work
A little bit down the road and around the corner.

chuck a sickie
The boss made it optional to go into work tomorrow (and even that the time off wouldn't cut into our annual leave) but I have important/urgent court documents that the lawyers at my firm need and since all of them are going into work tomorrow I really have no excuse...

My colleague Daniel Hurst has an eye on the international coverage in the event bits and pieces emerge elsewhere. He tells me CNN has reported that US law enforcement and intelligence agencies are closely working with Australian authorities on the Sydney siege.

Whether its good or bad exposure is another question.

11.20 Malcolm Moore writes that the Sydney siege could be the latest in a series of attacks carried out around the world this year by lone radical Islamists, some in response to the West’s battle against the Islamic State:
Quote The Sydney siege could be part of a pattern of attacks this year by jihadists responding to a call to arms by the Islamic State, which has urged “lone wolf” attackers to strike back at the West.
“We have not seen a huge amount of evidence of Isil cells going abroad from Syria and Iraq but we have seen a number of attacks by people claiming links to the group,” said Raffaello Pantucci, a counter-terrorism expert at the Royal United Services Institute.
In May, 29-year-old Mehdi Nemmouche, who was under surveillance by the French police after he returned from fighting for Isil in Syria, launched a gun attack at the Jewish museum in Brussels, killing four.
In August, David Cameron warned that Isil now poses a direct threat, arguing that if the UK does not “it will only grow stronger until it can target us on the streets of Britain.”

[22:15] As the hostage story continues in Australia, armed men have reportedly taken a man hostage in Belgium. But the authorities there have ruled out a connection. "There is no indication that this is linked to terrorism, the Islamic State or what is happening at the moment in Sydney," the Ghent prosecutor told AFP.
