Hi,

I'm thinking of majoring in actuarial (190/200 for combined ext 1 and 2 math) but I did not choose math1151 (higher math1A) this semester. Would I be able to choose actl1001 for semester 2? If yes, would I find it insanely hard considering I only would have done econ1203 (equivalent to qma/qmb in the old b com).

If your marks are good in econ1203, the school might approve you to enrol in actl1001 without math1151.

The assumed math knowledge in actl would be the following topics which most of them you've covered in MXI/II anyway.
1) Geometric Series
2) Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
3) Quadratic Formula
4) Taylor Series
5) Derivatives
6) Product Quotient and Chain Rules
7) Integration by Parts
8) Differentiation of an Integral
9) Newton-Raphson Approximation

Um I hear that the stuff covered in econ1203 is covered in a few weeks in math1251. So you'd be missing the stuff we're learning in math1151. I think you should try and change the course to math1151 otherwise you've wasted half a year... XD
