Hi y'all,
For ext 1, do we need to know how to solve trig induction questions. I don't think it's been assessed before but I've seen it in a lot of trial papers. E.g. a question like this. Do you reckon we need to know this? @coolcat6778 @C2H6O @tywebb . Thanks

it is technically in the syllabus combining "prove results for sums" (by induction) and compound angles so yeahh

yeah i would but its not that hard just know your way around compound angles and other trig stuff and youll probably be fine

By the way, I wasn't able to prove this past n=k+1, could someone please help me with it? Thanks

which part were u struggling with?
u should hopefully be able to get LHS of n = k+1
= 1- cos(2kq) + 2sin(q)sin((2k+1)q) all over 2sinq
which simplifies to the RHS using products to sums

Y'all, just confirming, for binomial distribution questions, is it fine if you use either sample proportioning method or the count method to solve the q's, particularly to obtain z-scores?
Thanks

how hard can t formula get.. like i havent seen it in hsc papers for a while
Suppose that

Find the value(s) of .

Using t-formula will get you there quicker than brute force (or question can ask you to use t-formula).

whats the thing where it's like u have to test 180 or sm and see if it works like u have to sub something into something (or maybe i'm getting stuff mixed up)

The t-formula

is only valid when t is actually defined.

Notice that there are certain angles where t is undefined. So it possible your trig equation happens to work for those undefined values of t, in which case using the t-formula will only retrieve a subset of the full solutions.
