isn't that ext 1?

so is this a independent copy-paste job? where?
Nope, I mean the marking guidelines are ODDLY specific - hence they DO not offer fair differentiation between someone who gets it partially right and someone who doesn't know what they are doing - fuck them.

i am more concerned by this
13a-mg.png

it shows no understanding that the question can be answered entirely without any integration whatsoever.

furthermore it shows no understanding that if integration methods are used then it can be done without substitution

it also does not admit in any way that the question was very poorly worded.

nowhere in the question did it say you had to use integration methods at all and nowhere in the question did it say you had to find k in terms of m and nowhere in the question did it say that if you want to find k in terms of m then use substitution method.

some may try to defend nesa by saying well obviously it's integration so u have to use integration method and obviously u have to use substitution.

well obviously u don't and obviously u don't

i wonder what they will say at the nesa presentation on feb 21. i bet they are aware of these issues and i bet they will to try to gloss over it as if evading the problem somehow makes the problem go away - like politics. well this isn't politics it's maths - so that's not going to work.

what i don’t know is if it will be recorded. in recent years they have been recorded and recordings made available to those unable to attend.

so it’d be good if they make a recording this time, but just because they made recordings in recent years doesn’t mean they will this time.
i found out that it will be recorded

so i’m not going. i’ll wait for recording. but it takes several weeks before recording comes out.

so who going?

i’d be interested on feedback on the feedback before recording comes out.

according to the hsc exam committee originally this was intended as a multiple choice question

not even hsc markers knew this.

i heard they said at nesa presentation that this one is dodgy because it failed to specify (but assumed) that the initial vertical velocity is less than the terminal velocity.

removing that assumption makes the question 3 times longer because then u have to consider 3 cases with it less than, equal to, and greater than the terminal velocity

dodgy questions where what is intended in question isn't actually what's written - seems to be a recurring theme in 2025 hsc maths papers

That's quite disappointing of NESA. Also my teacher spotted an error in the new syllabus for Extension 2 Mathematics (something about complex numbers, I think something like $z/abs(a*b)$.

These errors appear to be the type that would exist if the exam was updated last minute (not necessarily made last minute).
for some reason absolute values were not showing up properly in the new syllabus. they were fine originally then some time after that they got corrupted, not just for ext. 2 but right across all the syllabuses. my understanding is that they have now been fixed.
