can you calm down you rageohol. there's nothing like a bit of healthy competition to boost the marks. Why would you close the thread? cos its hurting you deep down inside? or is it cos people are talking about 2u maths in the 2u maths forum...that's taboo

Healthy competition and 2u maths are fine.

Arrogance and sexism are not.

The top 4 ranked people in maths are girls.
I'm coming second in physics (5 girls and 35 guys).

Um. I meant I didn't agree with Xayma's reasoning for not doing 4 unit maths.

I fully agree with skyprn being a moron if he thinks girls cannot do well at maths.

It's only a matter of time until a girl tops 4u maths, and I'd say the only reason that it hasn't happened yet is because most of the schools which put a lot of emphasis on maths are boy's schools (eg SBHS, Grammar etc).

And no, this years test will most likely not be as hard as last year's. A similar thing happened to the 4u test where the average in Q3 went down from 10/15 in previous years to 6/15. This resulted in the markers for every question complaining about it and the test this year most likely being significantly easier.

That's not to say that you shouldn't prepare for difficult questions, because by aiming at a standard above what the paper will throw at you, you will most likely get better results.

EDIT: I understand Xayma's situation with 4u as well, but there are also plenty of people who are able to do 4u but choose not to and regret it.

I regret not doing 3u because I know I could have done alright. Damn loss of confidence in Year 10. :(

I'm lost... what does sexuality have to do with gender  And I agree girls can do just as well at maths. Just like boys can breastfeed just as well as girls but due to sterotypes girls seem to always do it... :uhhuh:

thats true
ppl complain, then they make it easy
then after a few yrs, ppl complain again, and they make it easier again
and so on...
so many yrs later, the 4u standard could be today's 3u standard, and the 3u could be today's 2u, etc..

Except this years 4unit was produced before last years was sat Im pretty sure.

Adrian: Males would only be able to breastfeed in a few rare cases, where they have the ability to and begin lactating. Generally it requires pregnancy to be able to lactate, ask any farmer :)
