i've got my 1/2 size classical and im writing songs on guitar pro.

lawl............guitar pro is my recording software.

its the super poor method of "recording" ideas.

but one thing its done thats good is that i can transcribe stuff to tab and notation like lightning quick. i'll have all the riffs done and then in 5mins the whole song is done on guitar pro.

:santa:

this is my hammock guitar......i generally dont give a crap about it. it was $50.

but yes...........you should get guitar pro.

it is quite possibly the best thing ever to learn/write songs.

infact download it now.

i got all the tabs i wanted before the whole illegal thing though.

but yeah......thats just incase the 30, 000 is missing stuff you want.

i get all my gp and powertab files from ultimate-guitar... theyre russian hosted so the american laws cant touch them (or so they claim)

kristopher dahl also posts free videos there sometimes... he did a speed picking one a few weeks back, and then this week he posted one on whammy harmonics.

I could buy over three sets yo  Early 21st b'day present ftw.

Heres a question, When learning guitar chords and such, should you learn like a few chords at a time and get real good at them as you go, or just learn a heap of chords and get good at them all over time..

I know a whole 3 chords :)

again; I hate you :p

Practice those three chords in different orders and combinations, then find a song that uses them and learn those songs.
Introduce new ones slowly to your repository of knowledge, otherwise you get confused and disheartened by a million chords you can't do.
It also wouldn't hurt to learn the major scale and penatonic or blues.

learn all your open position chords.

G, A, Amin, D, Dmin, E, Emin, C

you could practically play like 60% of pop songs with just those chords.

next move on to barre chords.

start with F and Bmin.

then learn 6th string major and minor and 5th string major and minor and you can practically play barre chord-fied versions of everything.

Oh thanks :) Seems im going the right way about it.. I've been using this tutorial for beginners: http://guitar.about.com/library/weekly/aa071200a.htm

Starts off right from the basics :) And it even gives you a few examples of songs that just use the G, D and C chords (the first three it teaches ya) with tabs to start playing along to.. im a bit too slow atm switching between chords, to play along with the songs, but im getting quicker!

Cheers. :)
