hey mate calm down.

i assume it's your first interview, so it will just be with one of the HR girls - they are fantastic and really nice. it will be fairly informal, mostly just going through your application form, stock standard questions i.e. why accounting, strengths, weaknesses, what division you want to go into, depending on where you live what office you want to work in, what uni/course you are interested in/expected UAI etc etc..

nothing to worry about, just be yourself, be sure to ask any questions you have because they love that. good luck!

ps i assume you are applying for a cadetship

Is this the same for all mid-tier firms in general?

Don't they also ask you behavioural type questions? (ie leadership skills)

Maybe also the odd random question to 'throw you off' and see if you can handle pressure.

My experience with PKF was that they were quite easy going.

The HR lady I spoke with was quite nice and the interview wasn't too rough. Neither was the next interview I had with a manager and a senior (I think).

I did end up talking a lot about my experiences with work, uni, etc. So I guess behavioural type questions are a strong possibility.

it's true i do...

as you may see on your interview day, it is a pretty easy going sort of place and, despite the growth we have had in the past 12mths, the sort of place where people will know who you are.

no not entirely, i know that when i was going for my spot grant thornton had a behavioural thing... pkf + hlb mann judd (as far as i know) didn't have any type of behavioural thing

thanks roadcane.
btw which sector are u working in? Tax? advisory? etc

also wat type of questions do they ask u at the pkf interviews. cos i heard from ppl that at the UTS BAcc interview one of the questions was "describe the steps you would tell the alien to brush its teeth".

would there be these types of questions that will throw you off your feet?

With those type of questions show them logic...it is impossible to have a "right" answer.

Also, humour is always good. :)

to be honest i would be very surprised if they asked you anything like that... my opinion is that those questions are completely academic and as redrum has pointed out completely impossible to give a 'correct' response.

they will just be the sort of questions you should be expecting, touching on things like skills and goals and such. good luck and might see you around if you make it into the next round.

most likely your interview tomorrow will be with someone from HR. if you get through that you will have another interview with your prospective partner (and possibly another team member as well).

the likelihood of seeing me is very low as i live a fair few levels above reception, i did walk through the other day and saw a few young and anxious faces waiting around. best of luck, you will be fine!

i've just been to the PKF interview yesterday and it wasn't as scary as i thought it would be. It What they do is ask a bit about u and then they tell you a bit about PKF.

Is anyone going to the cadet information evening at PKF?
