Just to be safe then yes you should. Check the required attendance rate in the unit outline.

BTW ~ well done that you're on track to getting a HD. :)

I don't think Maths tutorials are compulsory but I'm not sure. What do you mean by "on track for HD"?

Half the cohort can be classified as that, including me but I probably won't

By on track to get a HD, I mean considering my marks so far (almost perfect scores), if I keep up the amount and effort I shouldn't get a mark lower than a D, at least that's the way I see it.

I'm on 20/20 and 9/10 for MATH1001 but the finals are quite a fair bit harder than the quizzes.

I think.

I'm more than happy with a D.

If past papers are any indication it can't be that difficult with effort

You're fine, the attendance only really matters if you're borderline failing.

Attendence is pretty low percentage of marks usually, something like 5%

This is true if attendance counts towards your final mark.

However, for OP's course, attendance does not count towards the final mark.

(but doesn't mean you should skip tutorials!)

MATH1001 doesn't count attendance towards your final grade. Also remember that the final exam makes up a significant percentage of your final grade and everyone still has the potential to overtake you. Even if someone fails both quizzes, if they beat you in the final exam, it will take precedence over their quiz marks.

no it's not, they will only consider your attendance if you apply for special consideration, for example if you got sick on the day of the exam.

Carrotsticks was right, they consider it if you want a concessional pass (46-49).

http://www.maths.usyd.edu.au/u/UG/J... study. Can I be awarded a concessional pass?

I have a mark of 47 (or 48 or 49) in a unit of study. Can I be awarded a concessional pass?
No. Concessional passes are not awarded in any mathematics units of study.
edit.
Also :
Is it compulsory to attend lectures and tutorials?

The Faculty of Science attendance policy may be found on page 4 of the Faculty of Science Handbook. In practice, the School of Mathematics and Statistics will not fail a student merely on the grounds of poor attendance. However, tutorial attendance is recorded and a student's attendance record is taken into account when assessing any request for Special Consideration.
