how did u answer the apartheid q's? nothing i studied for came up so i was wondering what arguments we needed to make
oh my god you do apartheid!
You know the 8 marker i talked about how mandela's imprisonement / rivonia trial increased international awarness thus recognition for apartheid, and also paved way for biko's BCM. but do u think the first part answers question since it said national reisstance (i only realised at the end!)

For security forces i said terrorism act allowed them to detain without trial and cross border raid
idk about 12 marker (said poltical was also important)

was anyone else lost on civil rights question 1? like i thought they just went to school i didnt know there were organisations :frown2:
Yeah that was very narrow there basically was only one answer which was the national association for the advancement of coloured people (NAACP). They organised the whole thing and picked out the Little Rock Nine etc

stop i also did that for the 8 marker i just added at the end how international response prompted more active movement within south africa so hopefully that'll suffice
but yeah everyone else seems to hv talked specifically ab national resistance

i didnt actually prepare for security forces so just talked ab how ppl were forcefully relocated to bantustans and how police forces? would ensure everyone had reference books on them or they would use violence to punish (dunno if that was correct)

for 12 marker i didnt finish but said something along the lines of economical + social deterioration led to formation of democracy?
dyk how we were supposed to include the source tho

I did it and I really should have done the Bolshevik one :(
Like why was it the growth of the communist party and stalin's political views combined???

Yes I did option B! I can't really remember the exact question cause I answered Russia near the start of the exam but basically I said that the growth of the Communist Party meant Stalin had complete and undeniable control to carry out the political transformation because he curated the party so it was comprised of his alliances and people who supported him (Lenin Enrollment for example). & that allowed him to pass stuff like the Kirov Decrees because the Politburo was willing to support him, thus he could away with all of his draconian measures in his political transformation.

This was the way I answered Russia Q A

What parts were in line with ideology going through the timeline of economic policy
- War Communism (ideology ✅)
- NEP (Not ideologically driven, pragmatic, ideology ❌)
- Industrialisation (Ideology ✅ given that it was based off implementing rapid economic growth and enlarging the urban proletariat)
- Creation of state-run economy/GOSPLAN (Ideology ✅ allows Stalin to micromanage to create the perfect Bolshevik economy)
- Collectivisation (Ideology ✅, colonisation of the countryside by the urban proletariat, forcing bolshevik ideology onto the farmers)
- Five Year Plans (Half-half, achieves ideological aim of industrialisation and turning around the backwards economy, however inequal and loss of production does not align with Bolshevik ideology)

Thats essentially the argument I made, with a conclusion overall agreeing with the statement made

I included the source in my paragraph about political factors. I talked about negotiations between ANC and de Klerk's NP (cos the quote is by de klerk).

yeah i did something similar to this (lowkey with less detail though). my overarching idea was that the growth of the party not only in numbers (giving stalin more power), but also its expansion into every area of life in russia is what allowed him to carry out the political transformation. my first paragraph was about how stalin curated the party, using his power to grow the party significantly and creating a one-party state where basically everyone was subscribed to his ideology. then my second paragraph i tried to link in social cultural, and talked about how it was his massive party and the power that came from it that allowed him to shape social/cultural life THROUGH political means (the Great Retreat) ANDDD to shift social/cultural life in favour of the party (censorship/propaganda). then my third paragraph was just on the show trials/threat of the gulags, so like the manipulation of the political system which he was able to do because of the growth of the party.
didn't really have as many specifics as you did because i lowk forgot it all (also that first paragraph was pulled out of my ass because i've never written about it before so i was a bit general) but i think we had a sorttt of similar overall approach. but yeah that's how i did it personally for anyone else wondering

YAYYYY I'm glad we had similar ideas that means we must have been on the right track!! That sounds really good!!!! I had a similar format too!! This is vaguely how I set it out although I kinda already forgot the question so this is from memory:
p1: though his monopoly of party roles and he was able to gain unassailable support. lenin enrollment, general secretary meant he could dismiss/promote/appoint ppl on verdict of their alliance
p2: how that allowed him to further create a culture of political uniformity within society to gain the control necessary for his political transformation for e.g. propaganda, censorship, the kirov decrees, moscow show trials
p3: i showed how the stuff above culminated in the political transformation & all the evidence of his totalitarian control etc etc i linked it again to the communist party growth but lowkey forget

SO ESSENTIALLY THE SAME THING which is super reassuring!

Yeah I did that one I sort of interpreted it as Stalin didn't care about the growth of the party in terms of membership but it was more the growth of party power and control which allowed his political transformation. My intro was literally me brainstorming ideas until I made up a thesis 😭
