there's actually a lot of related texts..

MOVIES:
Hope and GLory
Life is Beautiful
The Last Emperor
Sofie's Choice
Schindler's List
Silver City
The Glass Box

FICTION & POETRY:
Briar Rose
Beloved
The Longest Memory
Joseph's Coat

NON-FICTION:
Angela's Ashes
Wild Swans
Hiroshima
Paula
The Lost Children
Stolen Children
Ceremony

those are some texts from a booklet my teacher gave out.
she highly recommended watching Schindler's List and Sophie's Choice..

For 'The Fiftieth Gate', we did 'Biorhythms: The Holocaust' by MTV Productions as a related text. Quite a distressing documentary, but reasonably easy to link into the novel and elective.

my prescribed text is True History of the Kelly Gang.
in the first in-school assessment I used Walk the Line. It was good for H&M.
in the trials I used Nuremburg (film) and "Tracks" - a poem by Mudrooroo. my friends are doing The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, and others that I cannot remember right now...
good luck guys!

ha! thought i was alone :p
teacher: "there was 'the fiftieth gate' and a few others, which clearly defined the concepts of H&M, very straightforward kind of texts for this topic... for YOU, however, i have chosen the hard text- the woman warrior"
grr.

omgsh ! what school do you go to?, my teacher said that she couldn't find any school doing the same text and it was mostly likely we were the only ones in the state doing the woman warrior.

the book is a bitch to get through isn't it ? you don't understand the hatred i hold for that book, i swear straight after paper 2, I'm going home and burning it.
