Ah yeah I've seen that one. You guys get cheap students cards eh, even have to bring your own photo!

I take it you're a law girl?

TAFE does really good stuff with languages, but they tend to be weak on linguistic theory. If you're looking at Japanese as a "living" language, one you want to speak and use to communicate with living people, then TAFE is an excellent (and friggin cheap) decision. If you want to study it in an academic context as well, for say linguistic interest (eg ME) then a BA (Languages) is your best option.

well if you are serious about japanese, then studying it for fun at tafe is another choice....
dunno if it sucks there or not..
Hmm if someone just wanted to study it for 'fun' I think they could find some textbooks etc themself, instead of enrolling at TAFE!

People can also count on the support they'll get from this forum also, and never having to read subtitles on anime again :)

Gen ed... i think i'd choose something else besides japanese...
BUT erhhh..
elective.. gen ed.. erhh erhhh erhh..
psychology \or japanese haha..
Don't take Japanese as a gen ed @ UNSW - unless you're mainly interested in a quick course on Japan's culture etc. The psychology gen ed is quite good as you study the same course as the B.Psych students do, minus the (boring) methodology lectures!
