But I've tried leaving pop-up blocking enabled (on) and people have sent PMs without any "alerts" on screen

It doesn't bother me that much.

mozilla firebird is probably the cleanest and best browser out at the moment. Gotta give it 4stars...only 4 cause its still in beta....but still has never crashed for me and does absolutely everything...

I just got the athlonxp optimized version. Loads a little quicker and seems more responsive. Get a version optimized for your processor.

Ok, with latest firebird (0.7), the popup message thing works! You can even open them message in a new window (which didn't work previously). Just add "www.boredofstudies.org" to the unblock list.
