maybe you can help me out, would you know anything about electric guitars?
Through listening to a few solos i get this feeling that players generally fret single notes and use vibrato etc to enhance the sound is that right? It sounds different from accoustic because of amplification?

It will sound very different depending on what setup they're running through.

Vibrato doesn't necessarily 'enhance' the sound, but it can prolong and sustain the notes.

I play drums mostly and have been itching my way around piano. Piano is hard stuff to self learn.

Always want to learn the guitar and harmonica in the near future.

Correct, although you can have things like double stops and what have you (2 notes at the same time).

Is there something in particular that you're trying to achieve or improve on? I'll try my best to give you tips.

I've played the piano and violin for the same amount of years, around 15 years, and now I just don't have the time to play them at all, because I am busy hehe

Why sell them? Playing bass doesn't mean you have to get rid of your guitars (unless it's to get money to buy a bass - but still better to save rather than sell!).

hehe, well the thing is i need to get used to a 35" scale bass.
I played one the other day, and when i got back to a standard acoustic scale it felt really weird.
I'll be keeping one or two guitars, but the rest i'll be selling...

i don't play them at all.

and with that money i'll be able to get 2 or 3 custom, or high end basses.
i'll probably get 2 and get a nice amp

Anyone got a 7 or 8 string guitar?

Seriously considering picking up a 7 string in a couple months

Well if you don't play bass at all then play one and go back to an acoustic then of course it'll feel weird! :p

I enjoy playing bass but I don't think I'd be able to have it as my main instrument... I feel more versatile on a guitar.

I don't have one but have played. I'd rather a 7 string acoustic though but they're not cheap or easy to find... They're certainly fun!

i dont have a 7 string.

if you want high end acoustics, or a high end jazz guitar, then let me know :)
I would love both! Hahaha. But I don't have the money to drop on one :p (That being said I do love the guitars I have even though none of them are high end). I play mostly solo acoustic or jazz.
