I was wondering if i could do something about nelson mandela if i am already doing modern history? im not studying him in my class, but i know other schools are... is this allowed?

also are my topic areas sounding okay?:

- King arthur
- Karthrine of Aragon
- Fidel castro & the cuban missile crisis
- Nelson mandela

Any help or opinions would be great

You would have to make sure that your topic did not substantially overlap with the examinable content of the syllabus.

Even if your school isn't studying him the Extension syllabus does say that you can't do anything that would substantially overlap any examinable syllabus for the SC or HSC.

Check your topic with your teacher.

Personally I would guide any student to an aspect of his life not covered by the syllabus, but with some personalities that isn't easy. An example of what I mean is that I would suggest looking at his impact on a particular area of society, his relationship with world leaders or something not mentioned in the syllabus.

Castro and the cuban missile crisis is in the prelim syllabus...dunno about teh overlapping there
