Add in the fact that it sounds utterly ridiculous to make it 99.5 instead of 100, and you've got an annoyingly unbelievable sham.

Its now been pulled for the other news site as well. Have any of you Year 12 students been "written too" or received anything about it? I guess not.

Any ides where this could have come from? Doesn't seem like the kinda thing that someone could make up, a lot of fairly important people were quoted in those articles.

Quotes are quotes. I'm going to quote you saying I'm an asshole and that all people are idiots. Doesn't make you right OR me an asshole

There would've been SOME video footage, and 3:49 PM is an odd time to make an announcement.

Is this meant to be bad? It just means that 100 = 99.95 and so each other rank will be pulled down by 0.05 of a rank...

The ranking system should just be randomly flipped so that it's like queensland with the OP (but of course still with the range of UAI).

2009 fellow: "Hey, I just got my UAI score... I'm so pleased! I got 1.

2007 fellow: "WHAT!?"

Its fake. has to be. they wouldnt implement this mid-way thru the year and students would've heard something about this before the media does.
Or at the very least we wouldnt be going "WTF. when did this happen?" when the media releases it.

They say its to 'bring it in line with the rest of the country' but wouldn't that just give the impression that a NSW UAI (or A-TAR) is the same as one from a less populated state?

And yes, I know you can make up quotes, but if some random just sent them an e-mail don't you think they would at least take a look at one legitimate site before posting it. Meaning it would have had to some from somewhere that has at least some credability for them to just stick it up.
