5 is the minimum I believe every student should have. Those who get Band 6's usually have 7 - 8 good related texts from a variety of different types of sources and media.

Two is the maximum you'll ever need (mainly for trials which have passed cause HSC trend = 1)
They'll never do 3 or more cause that'd be ridiculous - you simply won't have enough time.
However, in recent years - it's always been one related text or AT LEAST ONE related text.
I think the trend should continue.
