I don't think anyone was questioning his sacking. The ALP has to distance itself from him regardless of whether he is guilty or innocent.
That's just bullshit though. If a court found him innocent and no lingering questions remained, he should be entitled to retain his position as a matter of principle.

Fuck public opinion, fuck the media, if a political organisation cant stand up for these sacred virtues, then they stand for nothing but a naked grab for power. If a stupid electorate disagrees (which they do), then good men wont govern (which they dont).

FUCK, it's not a matter or public opinion, it's a matter or principle, MP's should resign from parliament as soon as criminal charges are brought against them, regardless of how frivolous they are, i'm a left leaning fuck, but still, i hold the principle that the office is more important than the person who holds it, and parliament CANNOT be brought into disrepute

It's all about image. The public often doesn't understand the difference between accused and convicted. The NSW ALP cannot bank on the ability of the electorate to discern the difference. Regardless there is probably an argument that he needs time of to prepare his defence and can't complete his duties as a minister.

As pointed out by WithoutaFACE. If he is found guilty then it makes the ALP look bad for not acting fast enough.
