Note well that the Gillard Gov't is releasing their welfare proposals in the May '11 budget, and they haven't criticised any of the substance behind Abbott's proposals. Infact I suspect Gillard will be toughening up Labor's welfare policy. This will reinforce Labor as a centrist party, governing for all and not associated with the dying Green party. That strategy will help win the next election.
