I just have two perfume questions that i would like people to answer if possible

1) I'm thinking of purchasing some designer perfume from Myer or David Jones. When is perfume the cheapest to purchase?
a)NOW (november)
b) A week before Chirstmas
c) Boxing Day Sale

2) There are some shops/pharmacy that specialises in selling designer perfume at a ridiculously cheap price, I'm talking 50-80% off. Are the perfumes in these stores authentic? Or are these stores just fooling us with fake copies?

if you can, it's generally cheaper on there than a store.

maybe try getting it 1 or 2 weeks prior, if the economic situation gets worse, then obviously the stores will be discounting shit much more heavily, especially closer to xmas. maybe they might be much more aggressive on boxing day, but from my experiences, boxing day sales aren't really worth the effort.

in response to your 2nd question, usually they are genuine - places like perfume empire or perfume connection do stock the genuine stuff, and usually are cheaper than a dept store. best bet is to shop around and try the stuff just in case it isn't cat piss. oh and see if they have a certificate stating they are an authorised dealer or perfumes, dont know what its called though.

the only places i've seen fake copies are on the street and in paddy's markets.

I used to work for a fragrance promotions agency and there were two schools of thought as to why discount retailers (not meaning perfume connection, but those chemisty like places) sold genuine perfume at cheap prices.

1. They either bought in bulk/didn't pass on a large markup at retail price
2. The product is of reduced quality.

I'm in the former camp, but yeah make sure you buy genuine and try samples on your skin first.

Don't bother with DJs and Myer if you're after cheap prices. The stuff at Priceline and other chemists is the same stuff. But if they don't have what you're after you can always look online.
There's also the cheap versions sold at $2 shops but they're not really recommended..
