I need to know,

"how changing a monomer affects the properties of the polymer produced"

What do you mean by changing, it's a broad term that can imply changes to the structure, length, etc could you be a bit more specific thanks :)

The monomer of the polymer determines its properties. For example, PVC and polystrene are rigid and strong as the chlorine atom and benzene group respectively stabilise the molecule. Also, the hydroxyl groups of glucose form strong hydrogen bonds between cellulose chains, making it insoluble, strong and unreactive.

I don't really know which changes, it was a question from a textbook... Maybe it's the change in structure

this is the best answer. also ethylene is a non-polar molecule, so polyethylene will only have weak dispersion forces between polymer chains, which will make its MP+BP lower.
