Many contradictions in Catholicism
sorry..added a bit to my post whilst you were posting
The Church also accepts those who have been married as there is a guy in the P/Matta diocese who is becoming a priest after a long time of being happily married ( I should add that his wife passed away) but technically, he is still married!
yes there are.... but I prefer to use the term "Pardox/es" as opposed to "contradictions"
nicer way of explaining it!

widow=woman
widower=man
just to clarify

Oh and although there's a lot of cardinals, only 5 of them from memory satisfy the requirements for papacy, including having to speak latin, italian, english, spanish, french (i think) and german, so yeah.

I wonder if any cardinals enrolled in language classes when the pope went into hospital for the trachiotomy? Sorry. Bad taste.

And spell check, find something better to do with your time.

I thought the Vatican had the best doctors. Shouldn't they have prevented this by curing the cold he had a few months ago and then it would not have lead onto this.

Not a requirement for Papacy. The only real requirements according to Canon Law are that he be a baptised male and acceptable to the conclave.

No. His condition has deteriorated since this morning but he is still alive and for the most part conscious.

It's never, ever, EVER that simple with the elderly. Think about it - he's an old man with many pre-existing conditions in arguably the highest-stress job in the world. You can't just "cure" that.

Anyway, he's been prepared to die for a decade. And he is truly happy to be "going home".
