Hey Merethrond, we *almost* have the same subjects! 10 units in common, that's pretty close... I haven't found anyone who does the same subjects as me 'exactly' though.
That is the same a my parents. They will not let me work because they think that it will distract me from my schoolwork:(.

I looked at your profile a while ago and noticed that:).

Why is my post count remaining stagnant:(?

Because you are posting in the Non-School section? In which your posts will not accumulate towards your overall Post Count. :)

Yep, that's the same reason why my parents wont let me work. I applied for a job about 2 years ago and they wouldn't let me do it (this was in year 10), I asked again in Year 11 and they said no, and they've told me that I can't work until I'm finished university, and that I should not be thinking about girlfriends/dating until the HSC is over.
LOL *groan*

Huy,
I quite a beginner in PC overclocking.

I just tried 250*12, running stable.
255 crashed in Windows
260 lockup in MB
270 lockup in MB
280 lockup in MB

Any tip?

Must be the mainboard, I have an Abit IC7 which was 'highly' recommended in reviews and mobo/CPU combo's.

250*12 sounds nice ae, that should be running at about 3.01GHz now. (3000MHz)

Mine locks up at about 275, 280.
Don't worry too much, you can't be pushing it "over the top" to pump all the juice out of a 2.4C (rated) CPU.

an additional 1GHz would be great (3.3, 275*12), but if it's running stable at 3GHz (250*12) then you should leave it be.

maybe it's your heatsink/fan, (you are using the stock one, if i recall?)

i've got a thermaltake something or other, I can't remember, but it looks like a volcano orange one, not 100% on it though.

:)

Stock fan is pretty good, might buy a new fan during holidays, just for fun ;)

I will go read some overclocking tip for P4P800, lets see if I can go any higher.

BTW, overclocking CPU shorten lifespan?

Technically, I would assume so.

But that could be heresay and rumours.

I have had this CPU for a while now, a couple of months at least.
I would imagine this CPU (2.4C) will last me until 2005, if not until 2007-2008.

I have a pII 300MHz from 1997.
It still works, (although it isn't overclocked).

I wouldn't worry about "shortening the CPUs lifespan".
You will use it for many years at the least, a good 1-5 years before you would need to upgrade. :)

No hubs damn you :p

Otherwise we could go up to 128+
Keyboard = hub

Keyboard connects via USB (or PS/2), but it can have USB ports like the Apple Pro keyboards (two on each side of the keyboard), so the mouse connects off the keyboard, instead of taking up another USB port.

Two at the front are taken from the motherboard, but that is the case anyway, LOL, so they can be counted.

The 4 off the brackets are probably expansion cards, but off the mainboard, so I know that is technically correct, but there are only two stemming from your mainboard itself.

If you asked me how many USB ports your computer had,
I would say 4 off the bracket, and 2 at the front, and the two 'standard' ones from the motherboard making 8.

*thinks about hooking up 4-port USB hubs to each of his 6, each USB connection connects to a 4-port hub, thereby extending each port by +3*

4*6 = 24 USB ports.

*wonders*

As If I would have enough juice to power it all. (or do I! *wonders some more* LOL :D :p)

Hahaha!

I know that, how do you think my HD's are connected :)

but thanks for keeping me on my toes :)

Why must you always quote an entire post? :p :p

You should only quote what is relevant, or the part/snippet which you are responding to, so that other users wont get lost hehehe.

But it's nice that you quote, otherwise people would be thinking "who is he talking to..."
