Inequalities hasnt played a big role in the last q for a while. For some reason, complex numbers never seems to make it in? Maybe this year will be the year

Thoughts?

4u includes harder 3u

thus, 4u includes harder harder 2u

therefore, final q in this year's 4u paper will be harder harder loan repayments question.
State average for q16: 1/15

Hopefully some nice blend of inequalities + integration like in 2010 but of proper difficulty for the last question.

Wouldn't mind integration or volume, but I think maybe conics because it's getting taken out of the syllabus next year. But yeah, irrationality proving is due.

Probably not inequalities or integration because it was in a "recent" paper. (2010)
Maybe conics because it is its last year, however last years last question was conics and mechanics so maybe not.
Don't think it'll be graphs.

Probably complex numbers. :p

The only difficult last questions were than in 2000 HSC and they were still doable. Now then we see 1993 or 1984, those papers were more difficult. I am hoping something close to combination of harder 3u concepts of polynomial & complex numbers.

As in the 2010 last question was a completely easy question for you or harder than expected?
Some parts were challenging but I managed to get them all out within the time limit. The first two thirds were easy, as was the last bit, but the bits between took a couple of minutes to crack.

In regards to the Q in the OP, I'd say:

Complex- As aforementioned, it doesn't appear to crop up much (perhaps due to it usually being covered in the earlier Qs), but I have a sneaking suspicion it might be.
Polynomials- Maybe, if it does, definitely combined with complex numbers knowledge.
Integration- Not sure, possibly.
Graphing- no way it's going to be in the last Q, the Qs simply aren't as challenging as they should be for the last Q.
Conics- Did that last year, most likely won't again.
Mechanics- As for conics.
Volumes- Haven't seen it have too much emphasis lately, maybe?
Harder MX1- probably they'll work in inequalities with w/e topic they pick as the primary focus of the last Q


Just my take.

I too have a sneaking suspicion it'll be one of those ugly polynomials where complex numbers are involved, but I highly doubt they'll have integration of complex numbers, I've hardly ever seen that before. I'd defs say a mix of complex polynomials + inequalities

i would love to see something like Volduction
That would be one deformed lovechild. I guess there's probably some curve or shape with a volume that's reducable to a form that can be generalized by induction, but there would probs be so much hand-holding that it would essentially be two distinct induction and volumes q's

I agree 2010 was not a bad paper except that it was easier than other years but it was unique in its own way. Not really inequalities by itself, I am highly sure by now that it should have difficult polynomial integrated possible with complex numbers (not integration) topics

^ This sounds about right. These are my words too, but dont take my word for it.

If they ever take it out they can probs reduce the exam time to 2hrs hahaha. Conics is such a POS
What?!! Why would someone not want free marks? Its like the easiest topic cos polynomials they can make it as hard as they want. They might just as well put in 'prove the sandwich principle', conics on the other hand is just algebra and bit understanding/
