Hi there! :)

Are there any pronounced discrepancies between Preliminary Economics against HSC Economics?

Since year 12 is imminently approaching, I need to drop a subject in order to pick up 4u maths (for 12 units).

Any advantages/disadvantages that stem from the new course? Opinions from past HSC Economics students?

Much appreciated :p

Are there any differences between the Prelim and HSC course in economics?

E.g. the level of content, macro/microeconomics, etc.

HSC Economics is more content driven. It is also alot more interesting than the prelim course. However, they do cross over when interpreting graphs (demand/supply/shift to left or right), govt policies (fiscal/monetary) and topics such as the distribution of income and wealth (this is what I roughly remember from the prelim course).

For all intents and purposes, Year 11 is micro and Year 12 is macro.

I wouldn't put it that way.

Year 11 is skills based, while Year 12 is content based.

Perhaps you could say that Year 12 is more focused upon the global economy, in most areas.

More rote and content with hsc imo
But that goes with all subjects since it's an extra term...

More content (Due to having an extra term to learn it in)

Less dry...
