So I was just wondering if the Prelims are an indicator of how well you go in year 12? Because I've heard lots of teachers say that it does so yeah

Prelims are an indicator of how much effort you decided to put into a year that didn't really count. You will probably be studying twice as much next year as you have been this year and the marks should reflect this.

Definitely not. Prelim is sort of to prepare you for the big HSC year. If you stuff up & fail in half your subjects this year it doesn't mean that you'll do the same next year. There's time to improve & turn those marks around.

Depends on how much you want to learn from your Year 11 experience.

Some students realise that they need to step up a lot in Year 12 while others are satisfied with their Year 11 performance and don't really do a lot different other than maybe make a slight increase in actual study time.

As cem said - it is what you make it.

Although, that being said, a lot of students who come first in Year 11, don't come first in Year 12. Physics went from being my best subject in Preliminary, to my worst in Year 12.

Generally speaking, preliminary isnt a good indicator of the HSC, as many people lift up their game significantly in year 12, whilst others burnout and drop off. However, in saying that, in my year, most of the people who were at the top in prelim, were at the top in year 12.
