Ok, last years paper, they had :
Radioactive Isotopes - 7marks
Effects of ozone - 4marks
Neutralisation - 5 marks

Not many big mark questions in the core
Anycase,

I think we will get a lot on
Naturally Occurring Acids
The use of Esters
Cellulose/ biopolymers (I hope!)
Haber Process (gogo easy marks)

Can you think of anything else that may come up?
These were just areas which they either havent tested for a while, or normally test but didnt last year.

I say
Haber Proces
Ethanol/fermentation
Water purification/filtration

I love ethanol, its heaps easy to talk about. I also like the Edison Vs westinghouse debate, Einstein vs Plank debate questions etc...

That's actually good lol. It guarantees you 5 marks =P
What's worse is them giving you a 5 mark question you HAVEN'T seen =P

I actually find the chem coarse quite easy...
Once you get your head around the year 11 work (which is the hard part I suppose)
But water filtration hasnt been on for a while
I love that dotpoint!

Mmm, and in chemistry of art.. Id say technologies, but no one does Chem of art

Re: 回复: Re: 回复: Re: Prempt the Questions Thread

yeah i reckon water filtration will be in there... they might ask us to draw a microscopic membrane filter etc. evaluate different methods of purification.

i think AAS will also be in there this year.

another big possiblity... is "modelling the ionisation of acids in water"... by drawing lewis dot formulae. we had that in our trial i think. hasn't been asked before.

ethanol should be there this year, with fuel prices up and all.

they didn't have much on haber process last year.. which are easy marks, like someone earlier said... so should expect 4 or 5 marker on this.

for industrial:
i think this year for electrolysis of NaCl they'll ask for net ionic and formula equations.

Modelling ionisation... strong / weak acids and dilute/ concentrated?
Haven't had industrial/natural sources of oxides of nitrogen and sulphur
And Acid Rain! I hope we get a phat 7 marker on this

I dislike that part. I want it to focus on saponification, the contact process and the Solvay process (love that one).

you guys are missing something... their all time favourite question to repeat - assess the suitability of biomass as a future source of fuel and chemicals for industry. Eww solvay process give me saponification and effects of SO2 and NOx

I actually think that comparing a dry cell or lead-acid cell to any of the other ones in terms of all those random things would be there :D

I would much rather have battery qsn, Ethanol qsns and AAS than the einstein and planck thingo(physics) or naming the uses of polymers[easy but so freaking boring]

i dont mind battery qn's if its a comparison, but like the whole half equations n shiz is annoying.

Well... you're not giving them much option :p No ethanol, no cells...
They haven't put out the cell comparison question since 2001, so I'd prepare for it if I were you :p
I might be wrong though! See how we go

i love cell comparison just take the easy route an get the marks(dry cell vs button cell) I have a strange feeling we will get the biopolymers question. A band six question like 4-6 marker. dont mind it i think PHB is the easiest

Hey, biopol is a PHB right? I've always wondered, because I always do biopol in the biopolymer questions.

Pretty sure Biopol is PHA. Poly-hydroxyalkanoate produced by the bacteria alkaligene eutrophus.
