Thanks to Descartes we have the cartesian plane and the cartesian self.

Hmm, I knew a lot of them did math work, especially those that talk about philosophical "logic", but I didn't know about such an active part- "Cartesian Place" etc.

(sqrt(x^2 + y^2) - 2)^2 + z^2 - 1 = 0 is a better donut :p

i can pvove that 1 + 1 does not equal 2

star with
a = b
multiply by a
a2 = ab
minus b2
a2 - b2 = ab - b2
factorise
(a+b)(a-b) = b(a-b)
devide by a-b
a+b = b

lets say that a = 1
thefore b = 1

1+1 = 1

there fore 1 + 1 does not equal 2

damo ur tryin to be smart but a and b have to be different numbers or else it would be a + a = 1. nice try but im in year 11 and even i know ur wrong!

actually, if a=1 and b=1, then a=b, so dividing by a-b is dividing by zero. You can't divide by zero which is the fundamental flaw in that proof

About 1+1=2. I thought that it was just that by definition. We just define our set of numbers (starting at 0) as 0, 1, 2, 3, 4... etc. Two is one after one, so one twice is two, one plus one is two, however you want to say it. The same as 2+2 is 4 because 4 is 2 numbers after 2.

everything thing i said is algerbratically correct

i have checket over it numours times and asked my 4-unit teacher who aggres with me

it is a flaw in algerbra

No, as mentioned, (a - b) is 0. You may as well write something like this:

a * 0 = b * 0
.'. a = b

to prove any two numbers are the same :rolleyes:

proof that

dog = cat

(multiply by 0)

0 = 0

therefore

dog = cat....ah no, can never divide by zero

just because u arrive at a correct statement, doesnt mean u started with one, but if u arrive at somethin false, it must have started false....

everything you said may be algebraically correct, but you are still dividing by 0. Of course you did nothing wrong in the algebra. But my teacher agrees with me about dividing by zero, as does someone who did four unit last year. Not that I need a teacher to agree with me, you have divided by a-b, and if a = b, then a-b = 0, so you have divided by zero.
It is possible to have a set of algebraic statements that work algebraically, but the answer ends up wrong, often this will be because you have divided by zero.

Doing 4 untit means not terribly much. That realisation is in your face if you ever do university mathematics, though you'll get suprisingly far on the 1+1 = 2 argument.

it is only an error if a=b which it does in this case
but that proves you cant just devide throug by a constant/s
you dont no if it will = o or not

oh and just beacuse people do 4-unit doesn't meen they are smarter (my self included)

iit just means they do more, and use numbers that dont exist
