I'm still doing subject selections for Year 11 rite now and nobody at school has really explained about scaling and stuff. I'm planning to do Biology for the HSC but some of my friends have said (and I don't know how accurate they'd be) that you can't get full marks on Biology after you get your mark scaled. Is that true? If it is, does that mean doing Biology will affect your chances of getting a high UAI as you can't get full marks?

Not true, whilst biology is considered the easier of the three main sciences (biology, chemistry and physics) which often leads to it not being scaled as highly it is still quite capable to receive an excellent mark in if you are dedicated right from the start of the year.

Trust me-- there is nothing wrong with doing 'low(er)-scaling' subjects as long as you are willing to put in the effort.

Don't think about scaling (too much). Be happy. :)
