Why are internal rankings so important and how do they affect your HSC? i actually have no clue on this topic

Your final HSC mark is the average of your external mark (the mark you get sitting the HSC exam) and your internal mark (your internal school assessment marks added up)
Your internal mark depends on how you do relative to your peers in internal school assessments and thus your ranking is important

It tends to be more important if your school ranked lowish to have high rankings
