try wolstenholme study centre @ merewether building or the economics and business building's computer labs/outdoor benches.

wolstenholme has nice big tables to study on but there are definitely less people at e&b.

Oh right, I didn't read OP properly.

I was referring to the Aquatic centre near the co-op book store. When you step in, there's a cafe that has absolutely fabulous hot chocolate.

You don't need to pay to get to the cafe. This is where I study and this is where I tell everybody else to study because it's such a good environment.

I'll be there for the vast majority of tomorrow. Visit me if you like haha, I'll be the only guy there doing Maths work.

Oh not that cafe, though that is the place where I go every morning to get my morning coffee. Don't feel intimidated, the people there are very very nice. The main barista (guy with the ponytail) makes very delicious mochas.

I also often go there for lunch and many times beforehand, I've studied and even watched TV shows on my laptop there. As long as you purchase something from them, they don't care.

Not exactly the best study environment since there are always people going in/out in a relatively small area.

Unfortunately that place doesn't offer access benefits (if you have it).

A coffee is about $3.50.

A full lunch would probably cost you about 7-8 dollars. But you get something proper like stir fried noodles or w/e you like. It actually has a wide variety.

the law library has a 'quiet study area', but usually it's pretty hard to find a seat there

Yeah, people like me will usually get in around 8.30 for a seat there. :p
to be honest i always thought the whole design of the library was not really conducive to quiet study anyway - its all on one floor and group tables etc aren't really separated from single desks so you can hear people talking across the other side of the room.

Saying that, now I've actually got law research assignments I'll probably have to go in there if only to look at the books.

Aerath - that's impressive! :)

The best place for private study is the Burkitt-Ford Lounge. Not many people know about it. It's behind the chemistry building, in the Edward Ford Building. It's quiet, ariconditioned and has a lounge. Highly recommend it! xD
