too late to improve for assessments ?

okay
so i got one of my marks back
it was for legal studies
worth 40%
it was an inclass essay, unknown question, & we had to learn the topic on our own
anyway all complains aside
i didnt do terribly well...
34/40 = 85%
now i knw a lot of ppl will see ths n be like wtf r u complaining abt
bt u have to keep in mind everyone has different goals
i only have 10units
courses i want to do in uni are 98+
now all i have left are halfyrlies for legal =20% and trials 30%
is there a way i can still get a band 6 ?
my school rank is about 125ish i think
and other people ranked
welll
highest = 39/40
there were a few 37's ( about 5 ppl )
a few 35's ( also abt 5 ppl )
and marks inbetween im sure
about 50-60 ppl doing the course

but anway
could i still manage a band 6 any how
because im really scared now

oh and assessmnt befor ths was 10% task and i got full marks in tht so tht 10% is covered

anways any thoughts wd b really appreciated

+1 ur school ranks is good man my school is like ranked out of that its like 500-700 lol! my school for i come the western subs but hey its the individual work hard man thats all i can say is stay consistent.

edit: i hardly get in the top 5 i get in top 10 so w/e

consider this:

i got 17/30 for my viva voce in advanced english, below average at a PUBLIC school (which, generally, performs poorly at advanced english), worth 20ish%

ended up topping the grade with a hsc mark of 94.

if ur school is 125th the chance of u getting 98 plus is very very slim!!!!!! i would say what..like maybe 3 or 4 ppl would get above 98 in ur year? how many last year...so yeh if you rnt top 4 overall in your year obviously no 98 for you its a simple fact of life

Phhh, 10% of the course @ 100%
40% of the course @ 85%
=44/50
=88%

Now just average 92% for the last 50% of assessments and your internal mark will slot into a band 6.

However, I hope you understand the ranking system, this won't necessarily reflect your HSC mark.
but even if your rank gets like an 80% in the external exam, you can still pull out a band 6 by getting a high enough mark.

ie You can get a band 6 easy enough. However, I think you need to aim higher than that for your 98+.

You should never, ever give advice. My school's rank 166 and we had plenty of 98+, the ranking system is NOT based on the 'average' UAI/HSC mark. It's the % of Band 6s vs the % of any other bands. So a crap ranked school can still pull off many 98+ etc.

my school is ranked 600-700 and still produce quite a good set of 90+ but this year will be different :O

Just stay strong and don't give up. If you eventually beat the kids ranked above you then good, you'll have a good chance of getting 98+. If you don't beat them then well you know you can depend on them to get a good mark. You can still get a good mark in Legal if you're not ranked first AS LONG AS the kids ranked above you get a good mark as well.

That's assuming you beat the kids ranked above you in the external examinations, which is unlikely since you couldn't beat them in the internal. Rather, you should be worried about the people below you.

Learn to do that first and besides it depends what your ranks were- not so much your mark of 85%
