I don’t regret studying dentistry and I’m way too far in to do anything about it if I did BUT

in an alternate universe where I didn’t feel pressured to study something impressive or make my parents happy bcz I got a high atar then I would study teaching like the teacher life was my dream low stakes low return but very very peaceful, I’m not blaming my parents or other people at the end of the day it was still my choice and I wanted to pursue what I did, I only think about this when uni gets rough as fk or it’s exam szn and I’m like why did I do this to myself😹 tldr I don’t regret it but I occasionally wonder how my life would differ and pan out if I walked another path

story I used to clear the whiteboard for my teacher in kindy or take the job of putting ppl on the happy/sad face really really seriously and decided then that I wanted to be a teacher 😭 that never really changed

med and law are very different. how did you find yourself tied between the two? jack of all trades huh
...master of none.

Idk I just like the reasoning / constructing an argument part of law. I wrote a few law essays and got quite a few prizes (as extracurricular activities) in high school. Enjoyed the process.

Wanted to do med because of the stability (lower risk of unemployment) as I don't fit the typical demographics of a lawyer.

Well you could always do a med degree and pursue maxfax surgery!

Also I have an anecdote - one of my high school teachers was a doctor/dentist before switching careers. Let me just say they dont seem to be enjoying their current career.

Ever thought about teaching at uni part time?

max fax would be so sick I just don’t think I could lock in

appreciate the anecdote bcz I reckon if I changed careers I’d regret it too😭grass isn’t always greener

i lowk regret compsci. well, to be more specific, i regret not studying it in high school. i regret just jumping into a university-level course without any former experience. people say that its easy to pick up from the course but that is not true, at least for my case lol.

so i dont regret the degree, but i wish i was a more strategic in how i approached it if that makes sense.

Regret the University of New South Wales. The way assessments are done feels very awful and cheap

Computerised exams (especially maths) instead of pen and paper
