Related material should be roughly equal to your main text.

One thing to take note of is that you need to link your related text conceptually to your prescribed for the best essays, don't link your related text to your prescribed through plot similarities- (unless this is a comparative study-but even then, you need to highlight how plot similarities accentuates any conceptual concerns gained through a comparative study of the two texts).
