Hey everyone doing Castle/SN/Heaney! Join the "We hate RFTG" club. Has anyone else survived the year without reading the entire Shipping News?

I can proudly say I've not read Shipping News!! God I've got my trials in 2 days and I don't even have another related text! arg RTFG suckles...especially Heaney.

They keep telling us not to simplify things down to local-good global-bad but it's generally hard to separate em if you ask me!

Yeah, I did surprisingly well in trials for hardly knowing any texts...got 35 and 38 out of 50, which is very good for me... :)

Heaney has perhaps the most important and relevant statements in regard to RFTG, such as the necessity of a hybrid identity that is found through a post colonial journey for a collective Irish identity (SH retreats to other locals to compare a pagan past with the secular present) - this is shown in Funeral Rights.

umm i dont know if this will help, but try downloading some rftg stuff from bos, and try to find out the names of some of the related materials they use.

i used an article, but you wont find it on the net, i have tried.
