i am listening to white summer now as we speak. and if u say that he is shit. well i am gonna come up to u rip your head off and shit down your throat.
cause u obviouly have no fucking clue as to what the difference is between a guitarist and your mum,
and how did angus be so far back?
rolling stones and this guy are the biggest crock of shit ever

I think the original poster is confusing best technique with best guitarist. I mean anyone can play a wanky shred solo, but that doesnt make them a great guitarist

yeah even i can play a little super fast solo. but being able to play a solo lasting 5-6-7 minutes in the case of page, is fucking insane. it actually hurts to play that long

the best list is from a guiatr magazine of course:

here is TOTAL GUITAR'S 100 greatest guitarists this is from 2002 tho - sittin gunder my desk.

can't be bothered posting them all but this was done by the readers so here's hte top 20

1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Jimmy Page
3. Eric Clapton
4. Slash
5. Brian May
6. Joe Satriani
7. Eddie Van Halen
8. Dave Gilmour
9. Kirk Hammet
10. Steve Vai
11. Santana
12. James Hetfield
13. Tom Morello
14. Kurt Cobain (way too high for my liking and really i think the only reason he's great is 'cause of his premature death)
15. Mark KNopfler
16. Zakk Wylde
17. Gary Moore
18. Jeff Beck
19. Stevie Ray Vaughn
20. Angus Young

24. George Harrison
25. Dave Murray
27. Ricahrds

Okay the next bit is a bit meh to me

29. Matt Bellamy
30. Noodles (!)
31. The Edge
32. Mike Thomson (!)
33. Townshend (robbed... really i saw them when they were in sydney this year fuck it he was a nut! needs to be higher than fucking slipknot)
34. Malmsteen

43. Tom DeLonge
94. Paul Simon

Major wrongness there but better than rolling stones.
