I think it would be fantastic if 16 year olds voted and the gov. implemented a more rigorous approach to learning about politics through yrs 7-10. We would be better informed of politics from a younger age. Although this question seems like a trivial matter, it is actually very important in engaging a generation of young Australians about political life.

That's why it should be voluntary? So those who are political minded don't suffer on the expense of those who are not.

We have an ageing population. Baby boomers still set the policy agenda because they have the most resources, pay the most tax, and are the most numerous of all voters in the electorate. Decreasing the voting age will do little if anything to give younger australians any kind of meaningful say in the political process.

Not only are we ageing, people aren't afraid to be gay, so they no longer try to 'cover it up' by having babies with wives who technically their not mentally attracted to when it was illegal about 10-15 years ago, supposing their is 1-2 'gay' people for every 10 'straight' people I suppose that contributes to the decline in births? Plus gay people like to vote, because the more for the greens, the closer to liberty, freedom and trams! :balloon:
