ok, so what ur sayin is that sumo is "better", than soccer simply becuz its popular
but soccer is more popular in europe than sumo, does that make it better?, whats the difference its still the same sport

Yes, although you aren't taking note of regional and cultural differences. Soccer may be more popular in Europe, but how does that make it the better sport in Japan if another sport is more popular?

But does it really matter when we all hold different views on what constitutes a 'better' sport?

but it doesn't matter where the sport is played, its still the same sport, thats why popularity isn't the best indication of which sport is better, cuz different cultures have different opinions
ne way what is the definition of a better sport?, you cant determine which sport is better

Which is part of my 'better' argument regarding regional and cultural differences. Each and every sport is different from one region to another, from the way the game is perceived to how it is played (for example, in football, the German game tends to be much more physical than the game in France, so it is a different form of football despite it being the same sport).
If a sport is the same no matter where it is played, then why do people debate the merits of individual leagues? Wouldn't that just make the Italian league vs the English league debates meaningless?
