I wouldn't want to spoil any surprises. ;)

But if all goes well, it should be consistently more accurate. It should also incorporate various other modellers we've been testing.

The real plan involves the provision of an entirely new service that takes a completely different approach to that taken by SAM.

would this be anything to do with schools or ranks in subjects. because this too can affect one's uai as well. other mingling factors might be the estimated rise or fall of a subject in that candiature. you might have some inside info from board.

i am an evil, scheming, conspiring, philosopher :D

I think what jm said is very true.
Now everyone's going to be hounding you to publish it on BoS :)

* Then again, I was the one who asked in the first place :D

Maybe, but unlike in the case of, say, people who say their movie or computer game will be out on a certain date, Lazarus doesn't really have to honour his date - it's free and it's a gift. He could just as well tell us all to go stick our heads down the 'loo. :D

Very true...but then there are almsot 50000 BoSers who would hunt him down and...well, let's not go that far :D

On that note, I read somewhere that 35,000 people used SAM in 2004. Was that UNIQUE people? Because I for one used it about 100 times. :p

Yes, unique - in terms of actual usage, by October over 500 000 UAIs had been calculated using SAM.

My guess? Probably SAM will be able to give raw HSC marks from given Aligned HSC marks! lol! (If that's not the case, then there's a challenge [or idea] for you)

if that happens i will be surprised, and it will prove laz has internal connections with the UAC and BOS, lol

That's what I was thinking too...it'd be great if Laz could infiltrate BOS and get us the raw band cut-offs :)

Haha I think the only way we'll get those are from FOI requests by individual students...

They don't need to be near it.

An aligned mark of 95 is just as good as 90 for purposes of finding cutoffs. As between the bands it is a linear transformation.
