there has been heaps of talk on here about how if your not in a top 100 school your Uai will be dragged down???of nethin over a 95 is out of the question.

my school isnt top 100. its more like top 500 lol

yet we have had students getting Uai's of 96- 100

so how does this work??

whats the point of having a UAI to determine everybody in the state if it comes down to what scholl you go to . not every school can be in the top 100

i think its shit!

I think its based on average results.

You may have a couple of students getting a UAI of >90 but the rest of the cohort getting less than <50.

It goes on a number of factors, not just UAI results.

taking all other factors aside (teachers, competitiveness, self-motivation etc etc) your school will not affect your results in anyway.

The ranking of your school does not affect you. Eg if you are from Ruse and you transfer to some sch ranked 500+... assuming you do not fall in standard, you UAI will be the same as you will get it in Ruse.

The school ranking thing is just something like a general comment on the probability of a high UAI coming from that school.

The school ranking each year is determined AFTER the HSC and UAI are done and reflects the ranking achieved by the students that year.

Your school's ranking will have no bearing on your marks or UAI but the other way around - your marks will affect the rankings published after the HSC results come out this year.

school rankings dont directly effect your uai. you can definitly achieve a uai of 95+ in any school. however school ranking is an indication of how moderation may effect your uai when asking for people to predict your uai.

i fail to see any relationship. moderation is only limited by you and/or your peers performance in the hsc exam.. nothing to do with the schools so called ranking..

ps. who spreads these rumours about a schools ranking in the state dragging down the uai.. they are completely false.

not a direct relationship obviously (which i have mentioned in my post, if you read it all) but it may help when predicting someones uai on this site as it may be an indicator of how moderation may affect there uai. i would say it may make the prediction slightly more accurate when school rankings are taken into consideration compared to when it is not.

also i agree that, that is false.
