Hey peoples. My first post ever.
So here it goes :

Well, im going to be doing my SC this year. *sarcastic cheers*
Not worried about it as it is pretty pointless , yet I still would like a good result. otherwise crazy asain parents go psycho *SMACK* .
This involves me putting in the study ; yet I dont know what exactly to study for.
I've looked around on the BoardofStudies webstite, yet it was useless.
Is it the entire 7-10 syllabus for that particular subject?
Can anyone give me any ideas?

It's mainly the year 10 stuff, but they might assess years 7-9 here and there.
SC is rather easy, don't stress yourself

Thanks champ.
But my super hardcore asian parents would abandon me if I went crap.
:haha:

I did the Math SC two years ago. It was pretty basic and went pretty good.
But I dont know how to approach the English and Australian History / Civics tests.

Wouldn't they still have to make all Year 10 students sit the same test?
To make sure all students have met the same required standards?

First off - they are not cancelling the School Certificate in the foreseeable future. This was stated by the BOS when they informed schools in the new nationwide tests that took place last year for the first time. When the national curriculum comes on board things may change but that is still a couple of years away so...

to study for the History/Geography courses you need to only learn the Year 10 course.

For History, that is Topics 5, 6, 7 and 8 from the syllabus.

Australian and the Vietnam War Era
Changing Rights and Freedoms (Aborigines and either Women or Migrants)
People Power and Politics in the Post War Period
Social Change.

In most of these topics there are sections/topics that invovle choice e.g. ONE post-war Prime Minister. You will need to ask your teacher what the electives are that your school has chosen.

Rumors have been stating that every year. I wouldn't take it seriously.

Anyway, the School Certificate means nothing so don't worry about it. As long as you do your work through the year, you'll do great!

for history/geography if you want to study (or are being forced to..) just study the focus questions
which are usually the extended response/short answered questions [ take a look at past exams ]

much appreciated. :)
Don't try too hard for the School Certificate. I know a certain 10er who went hard out for the School Certificate but achieved marks way below his expectations. Most marks achieved in the School Certificate are a bunch of flukes anyway, so guaranteed success in the School Certificate is more a matter of luck than skill.
