yeh but if you know that there's no way in hell that you're gonna beat the state average it's probably a good idea... cos the scaling probably wouldn't benefit you

That's correct coylie. You have to perform above average to get the advantage of the scaling

That's about right.

For easier subjects you need a mark in the vicinity of the top 1 or 2 percent of the state in order to be unaffected by the scaling mechanisms.

i dropped from adv maths at the end of year 11. my yearly exam mark was 24% coz i just didnt have the motivation to spend the time on it. i topped general maths this year with marks more than likely in the 90s. was it a good move?

comparing the two marks ... most definitely ... scaling cant save you from 24% ... so it was a good move ...

Hey I'm Adam... did yr 7-12 at Killarney Heights High School (in killarney, near forest, in sydney - like half way between dee why and chatswood).

Subjects:

2U Advanced English
Ext.1 English
2U Maths
2U IPT
2U SDD
2U Physics

(and in year 11 and 1/2 of year 12 I did Ext.1 Maths..... killed too much of my time so that went bye bye! so thankful i did - as a direct result my 2u maths mark went up 50% due to the amount of extra time i had to spend on it)
