hey man.. im doing my HSC this year. all my fwends are studying.. and i have not modivation study. i find theres no point.. i dont really wanna go uni and waste another 5 years going to skool but then again i wont wanna do manual labour..

surely you have interests? things you like doing? can you imagine the perfect job, where your paid to do soemthing you love all the time? try and aim to do that no matter what it takes to get there... if its not uni dont go to uni, if its not a traineeship dont get a traineeship...even if it means volunteering at some cool place, then working your way in/up.

What do you want to do? travel, play music, listen to music, meet new people, socialise, find a job that does this and try it. think of strange, one off jobs,
alternatively retreat to doing a few shitty jobs, save some money and go overseas. you may have a change of perspective.

this may be pointless advice... but surely you like doing something.

i dont think this is the best forum for the thread unless youre feeling particularly emo about your future.

try taking a walk through uni to see what its like. its a much more relaxed atmosphere than school and if you love what youre doing you really wont find uni to be as fetal-position-inducing as the HSC.

What sort of manual labour has shit pay? There's a shitlot of money in the construction industry these days. Even non construction type of labour (just like.. moving shit) can often score you more than a grand a fortnight (depending on the work.. and how often work is offered).

I'm pretty much the same as you mate (threadstarter), except not emo about it. I'm pretty much the most unmotivated person in the world with study, and I'm doing fucking terribly at school. I did a few weeks of work placement this year and last at carpentry places, and it was fucking hard work, but it's probably what I'll end up doing (apprenticeship). You get to work out in the sun and just.. build shit.

If not, another good idea is getting a fulltime retail job for a year or so to save up money, then travel, and try to decide what you want to do. That's what most older people have told me they wish they did after school, rather then going straight into uni/tafe/whatever. There's plenty of time for that.
