My subject choices are stuffed but I can still change them so this is what I have in mind:

Extension 1 English
2 Unit Mathematics
Biology
Ancient History
Engineering
Legal Studies

Aiming for a 90.00 UAI.

If I put English as a benchmark for scaling,

EX1 English = good
2 unit mathsmeiatcs = average
Biology = bad
Ancient history = fail
Engineering = epic fail
Legal studies = poor

Ranks:
FA (freaking awesome or f****** awesome, anyway you interpret it) > A (awesome) > G (good) > N (nice) > AV (average) > B (bad) > P (poor) > F (fail) > EF (epic fail)

Well, I didn't know how to put it. I just put it qualitatively.

If you want them in a quantative form, I will be glad to supply you with that.

English advanced = about 31/50 (average scaled mark, higher the average scaled mark, higher the scaling usually)
Legal = about 26/50
Biology = about 27
Ancient = about 25
Engineering = about 24 or 23
Mathematics = 30
English Extension 1 = 36

I meant that face as a scared look because you just revealed my subjects scale pretty poorly.

NO, I didn't say they scale poorly. I put them in relation to Advanced English which has a average scaled mark of 31. In a whole list of subjects, your subjects are okay. Some are pretty poor such as Ancient and Engineering but scaling won't really affect you as long as you perform well.

Don't care about scaling to the extent that they become major part of the reason why you pick/drop a subject. It's NOT recommended.

I was told that as long as your ranks and marks are good you can get a good UAI. So I would say that those subjects, given that you do well in them can get you a 90+.

Hahaha, all of my subjects are going to scale awefully, aren't they? :)
Some are pretty abysmal but what can we do?

I am in the same boat - my subjects don't scale that great. But I don't give a shi* about scaling. It's a total conspiracy!!! -jks

But seriously, you can overcome the disadvantages posed by low scaling by doing really well.

you're saying bio is bad in one post and ok in another, so contradicting.

Actually, scaling for bio is just all right, just.

How am I contradicting?

In one post, I was making an evaluation IN RELATION TO English and in the other, I was making a generalised statement in terms of WHOLE LIST OF SUBJECTS.

Re-read my posts if in doubt.

Drop it then, there isn't point in continuing with a subject that you are bad at.

But if you have potential to do well, like the subject and have time to do well at the same time, that's a BIG BONUS - then don't drop it.

I don't really care about scaling or getting 100 UAI, I just want to get into my desired uni courses. I am defying the trend my other selective high school students might follow. It's pretty cool.

If you think tutoring will make a hell a lot of difference, don't count on it. Because the chance is that it won't. Do some studying, if you cannot stand the subject because it is difficult/boring/waste of time, kick the subject out the window. But seriously, tutoring sometimes is waste of money even though I fully endorse taking advantage of it.

yeah but, i'm going to start all over because we had a pretty shit teacher this year.

maybe that was the reason i failed.

and if it continues to be sooo difficult, i will drop it. :)
