i went a couple of weeks ago, and didn't really enjoy it..i know that the director was a minimalist, but i got lost because of that, and fell asleep during act two...i felt that the whole robe changing thing was just confusing, and considering i was relying on seeing the play to give me a better understanding of it and the plot, i really don't think it helped me too much....

Horrible, horrible production that stole from Ayre's television series and dumbed it down to suit an immature audience familiarised with the crassness of Japanese "manga" culture and pornography. Dave Ritchie (The Director) is a grumpy, angry, unimaginative fellow and the acting of Lear and Gloucester is done very poorly. The audience feels no pathos and as a result, the ending fails dramatically, despite the acting we see from Regan and the fool, who are perhaps, the only redeeming features of the play.

There was none. One of the teachers at our school tried to link the gong with the imagery of bells going off in the Book of Revelation or something, symbolising the beginnings of chaos in the kingdom but the angry, angry director said it was just to make it in the flavour of feudal japan or something. What a scam. I want my money back.
